History of Guzelyurt Area ; The western side of Northern Cyprus from Girne has the major archeological sites, Vouni and Soli and the town of Guzelyurt. Vouni is fifth century BC, a hill top palace with breath taking views over the sea. Soli is a once Hellenistic city, taken over by the Romans when they has their turn at Occupying the island. The Church of St. Mamas is still the St of tax avoiders and those who are suffering, ear, nose and throat infection. Pighades is a bronze age site great beauty, especially in the Spring.
